Summer, summer, summer!

A great time for relaxing by the pool, catching up with friends and family, hitting the beach, and of course................learning English 😉

In this post, I'll share with you two really useful business expressions with a bit of a summer flavour.

The first one is "beachhead strategy"

The term "beachhead strategy" originates from military tactics, referring to the establishment of a secure foothold in an enemy territory. In a business context, a "beachhead strategy" refers to a company or organization establishing a small, strong initial position in a market or industry. From this secure position, the company can gradually expand its influence and market share."

Examples:

  1. Company XYZ plans to enter a new market using a beachhead strategy, starting small and expanding gradually.

  2. The beachhead strategy of launching a flagship store helped the company quickly establish brand visibility.

The second one is "Catch the wave"

(yes it's me in the photo! My first attempt at paddle surf!)

This idiom is often used to describe the act of taking advantage of a trend or favourable market conditions to achieve success or make significant progress.

Examples:

  1. Our company aims to catch the wave of the summer tourism boom by launching a new line of travel accessories and offering special promotions.

  2. The startup quickly adapted its business model to catch the wave of the rising demand for remote work solutions during the summer of 2022.

  3. The ice cream shop strategically expanded its operations and opened additional locations along popular beach destinations to catch the wave of summer tourists.

Try incorporating these expressions into your business conversations soon in order to really cement them in your brain!
